Don't really know how big a deal this is behind the scenes (standards compliency etc.) but it sure does look pretty. However the loss of the "sort by name" option in the bookmarks is a bit of a bummer, but i'm sure it'll turn up somewhere.

I still have the sort by name on my ff3. Been using it since the betas and afaik they've all had it. This is on linux tho, mebbe that's the diff.

As for ff3 I like everything about it apart from the 'remember this password' bar, which I haven't been able to kill off yet.

Can't say I've been blown away by it and having all my addons become instantly incompatible was rather annoying. I think I just need some more time to appreciate it.

Can't say I've noticed any real difference beyond the loss of addons, including my Mario Theme Sad

There are a few hacks you can use to turn of compatibility checking on extensions. Some will flat out not work on the new version, but others would work if their authors would update the relevant file version, so disabling the check allows those to work again.

I've been using it for a few months now and I'm already getting used to some of the new features. Being able to search your history and bookmarks straight from the address bar is surprisingly useful.

Personally I kinda like it. The awesome bar is a nice feature, though at times I just want to type in a normal address rather than searching, which becomes a bit annoying when you're wanting to visit a domain after visiting lots of it's subdomains (york.ac.uk defaults to ury.york.ac.uk or maths.york.ac.uk, so I have to type the entire thing in to get to it).
Also, for some reason it doesn't seem to be keeping my cookies properly, but I think that's because I'm using Nightly Tester Tools to allow me to use my old extensions.

They're using a new memory allocator (the BSD style one), but that should have been really thoroughly tested, so I'm not sure what the problem could be :S

FF3 is a *big* step forwards, in speed (rendering, JS) and memory usage. They've added support for many more standards (they have always complied with the ones they claimed to support, this isn't IE). The use of native widgets on Mac is welcome too. Flash and Java (which are DLLs and run in the browser's process) will always suck, drink memory and crash, and it will continue to look like FF's fault (although it isn't).

I've converted to Opera 9.5. Had the beta installed alongside firefox 3.0RC2 but now with both FF3 vs Opera 9.5 actual releases, Opera seems to have the edge.

I need to work out some way to integrate a good download manager into it though. All I've got so far is a program that 'intercepts' downloads... Also bookmarks are a little more difficult to manage, can't just drag / drop / delete, have to go to manage bookmarks.
