For all those lucky enough to own an iPhone or iPod touch, a theme pack for the forums allowing them to be viewed in the 'native' istyle would be great. I understand it wouldn't be too much work either.
In addition, if the site could detect access from one of these mobile devices and auto switch to the correct style (just like wikipedia does), that would be superswish!
Improved access = more posts = better community! _________________

I have no idea what that means or what it would mean to create it, however if there is any way I can simplify or change the site to make it easy for someone I'd be happy to do it. I couldn't be bothered to do away with all the infuriating, redundant and untidy code the original writer left in. _________________

Would that be a simple attach-using-bboard-presets kind of thing? _________________

Easiest way would probably to search for a plugin that someone has already made. _________________

| Shouldn't need a plug-in - if the normal theme causes trouble on small screens then we want some resolution-dependent themeing using CSS3 media queries. |

I believe this isn't a screen size related issue. IIUC the browser presents a 'large' screen to the website so that it renders normally, then they allow you to navigate around that.
I'm not entirely sure how these 'touch' versions of websites work, however. Certainly phpbb doesn't play that nice on my phone when posting. A little research:

I see the site perfectly fine from my phone (nokia 5800) and can post without any problems. _________________ A.K.A - Mad as eggs

Don't get me wrong -- it works fine. It just could be better. Why have ASDA Smartprice when you could have M&S... Or more appropriately for this forum, why settle for a K6-II when you could have an i7? _________________

*cough* this was mentioned again this morning, and how much better these layouts are for the increasing number of us with penis extensions, sorry smartphones.
If someone could take it on themselves to get it done, Dakoman, JLH or Dave X maybe? It really shouldn't be too hard as there has to be a plugin for phpbb. _________________ The DK P45-T2RS "...will fine tune your current system to the limit performance, which's in a blink of eyes"

I will get round to doing this after my assignments are over.
Few plans for redesigning bits of the site to, so it all comes under that. _________________ P&P&P|Emo|Crt|Dave|X|i |

I'm just having a quick look around for the bits we'll need - it seems pretty straight forward but I probably don't have the technical know how of phpbb to do it straight off so will just link to themes / mods that seem to do the trick. _________________ Dreaming

Also could we upgrade to the latest phpbb? I'm not sure what it is, but ours says 2005, so it is probably a matter of time until it gets totally owned by a 5 year old security bug... _________________ The DK P45-T2RS "...will fine tune your current system to the limit performance, which's in a blink of eyes"

i can update it and have no problems doing so, but we'll lose all the mods i think since it'll be version 2 to version 3, ie quick reply, and the style sheets _________________ Intel i7 940@3.85, 12GB Corsair DDR3-1600, 4870x2 787/975, 2*X25m SSD raid 0, 30" Dell TFT, and a 11*1.5TB raid6 fileserver |

It sounds like it needs to be tested in a staging environment first -- I'm sure those mods will exist for the new version of PHPBB. Obviously this is a bit more work, but it would be nice to have a seamless transfer. _________________
